Opportunities beyond the Classroom

The Department of Political Science offers rich non-traditional learning experiences to its majors and other students in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences. These include participation in the following activities.

A nationally-ranked WVU Debate Team, which is housed in the Political Science Department and directed by Professor Neil Berch.

Numerous Study Abroad opportunities at WVU, including several specifically designed for Political Science majors in Pre-Law and Legal Studies and in World Affairs and National Security.

A variety of Internship opportunities in Washington, D.C. and in the state’s capital, Charleston, along with others in the area of service learning.

A Model United Nations course that includes participation in the annual National Model United Nations held in New York City each Spring semester.

Each of these activities can be intergrated into the Political Science curriculum and, in fact, often serve as an ideal means of satisfying the University’s “capstone” requirement for the Political Science major.
